JJ Blessing | CEO
JJ Blessing is the Chief Executive Officer for Peninsula Dermatology Skin Cancer Surgery Center. He earned a BS in Astronautical Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy, an MS in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle University, and an MS in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. After a 25-year career flying F-15s in the US Air Force, JJ joined CACI International and led a business division prior to transitioning to the Healthcare Sector in 2014. He is highly experienced in leading and managing business operations and is dedicated to adding value and making positive impacts on the business process. He loves being part of a great team and having the opportunity to serve with outstanding people while improving operations within the organization. In his free time, JJ enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and doing home projects and landscaping.
Allison | Chief Financial Officer
Allison joined Peninsula Dermatology Skin Cancer Surgery Center after transitioning from a career in Nursing Home Administration. A native of Newport News, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Christopher Newport University and a Master of Health Services Administration from Strayer University. Allison is a Certified Medical Practice Executive by the Medical Group Management Association with over 15 years healthcare experience. As the Chief Financial Officer, Allison enjoys streamlining healthcare operations and finances while focusing on quality patient care. Allison is married, has one son and two Chihuahuas. In her free time, she is likely to be found at a baseball field cheering on her son playing travel ball.
Shanequwe | Newport News Office Manager
Shanequwe worked in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field for a few years, which sparked her interest in the medical field. She started at a busy ophthalmologist practice as an office manager, has an Associate Degree in Accounting, and is MAT, HIPAA and OSHA certified. Shanequwe loves the interaction with patients every day. Working with patients from all walks of life has always been a passion of hers, and patient care is one of her top priorities.
Shanequwe finds the best part about working in the medical field is seeing patients smile. A smile can make someone’s day, and she will go out of her way to make sure patients go home with a smile. Shanequwe understands that every day won’t be a good day, but she can always try to make their day better. She believes you should treat people the way you want to be treated and that a smile costs nothing to give. Shanequwe always strives to provide the best possible patient experience.
Shanequwe grew up in Newport News, and then traveled the world for eleven years before returning to Virginia. Italy was her favorite place. A very peaceful person, Shanequwe loves warm, tropical water, traveling and eating new foods. She is a mother of two amazing daughters, that she truly loves. Shanequwe is thankful every day and believes you’re never too old to learn something new.
Shannon | Clinical Director
Shannon joined Peninsula Dermatology Skin Cancer Surgery Center in 2014 searching for new healthcare opportunities, although her passion was Nutrition, she discovered a new love for Dermatology almost instantly. Shannon has been a Certified Medical Assistant since 2002 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree from South University. Shannon takes pride in guaranteeing that quality patient care is always provided within the clinic. Shannon is married to a United States Airforce Veteran and has raised 3 amazing children whom she is extremely proud of. She enjoys spending time with her family and her dog Bella, early morning walks, journaling and listening to podcasts.
Davia | Payroll & Benefits Manager
Davia has been part of the team at Peninsula Dermatology Skin Cancer Surgery Center since 1998. She started out in our insurance department because she loves working with numbers so it made sense to move into the payroll department when the opportunity came around. She loves that there is always something new to learn!
Davia is married and a proud mother to her son and grandmother to three grandsons. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, working with plants, relaxing and spending time with her grand boys.
Katrina | Billing & Insurance Manager
Katrina joins Peninsula Dermatology Skin Cancer Surgery Center as the billing manager. She has been a Certified Professional Coder since 2007 and enjoys working behind the scenes to help patients with billing and coding. Always willing to help and answer any questions, Katrina values being able to help patients with their financials so they can focus on their health. In her free time, Katrina enjoys spending time with her children and family, singing karaoke and having movie nights.
