Pro-Nox: The Simple Solution To Stress-Free Procedures
At Peninsula Dermatology, we understand undergoing any kind of procedure can be unnerving. That’s why we put our patients in the driver’s seat of their own comfort levels with Pro-Nox! The medical device was developed to provide a patient-controlled, inhaled analgesia to boost comfort and reduce anxiety during procedures, such as laser resurfacing, microneedling and injections.
What’s in it? The FDA approved Pro-Nox system is made of 50 percent nitrous oxide and 50 percent oxygen. Unlike “laughing gas,” it’s designed for patients to take the wheel of how much pain relief is needed, giving you total control. It safely and effectively erases discomfort when administered through a mouthpiece and hose with most patients feeling its effects immediately.
In contrast to anesthesia, Pro-Nox has lower levels of nitrous oxide and intercepts pain signals from the body to the brain, dissociating the brain’s capacity to process these pain signals altogether. It also leaves your body quicker. Within approximately 10 minutes the gas mixture will leave your system, so that you can resume your normal tasks for the rest of the day.
